Camlock Coupling Type C
Camlock Coupling Type C is characterized by its female coupler with cam arms and hose shank design, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications where a secure and efficient hose connection is necessary. The female coupler has cam arms that engage with a male adapter (such as Type A, E, F, or another compatible type), locking it in place. The hose shank end is designed to be inserted into a hose and secured with a hose clamp or ferrule.
Type C Self-Locking Cam & Groove Couplers are fitted to hoses and are generally used with the Type A, Type F, Type E adapters and the Dust Plug of the same size.
Camlock Standards
Camlock couplings, also known as cam and groove couplings, are standardized under several international and national standards. The primary standards include:
- MIL-C-27487: This is the original military specification developed in the United States, which many commercial camlock couplings are designed to meet.
- EN 14420-7 (formerly DIN 2828): This European standard specifies the dimensions, materials, and performance requirements for cam and groove couplings. It ensures compatibility and interchangeability among manufacturers in Europe.
- A-A-59326: This is a commercial item description (CID) published by the General Services Administration (GSA) in the United States, which has replaced the MIL-C-27487 standard for new designs and procurements. It maintains the requirements for dimensions, materials, and performance similar to MIL-C-27487.
These standards ensure that camlock couplings from different manufacturers can be used interchangeably and meet certain safety and performance criteria. They cover various aspects such as material types (e.g., aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and polypropylene), pressure ratings, and dimensional tolerances.
Description of Camlock Coupling Type C
- Components: Type C consists of a female coupler and a hose shank. The female coupler has cam arms that engage with a male adapter (such as Type A, E, F, or another compatible type), locking it in place.
- Connection: The hose shank end is designed to be inserted into a hose and secured with a hose clamp or ferrule.
- Usage: Type C is typically used when a hose needs to be quickly and securely connected to a male adapter or another camlock fitting.
Key Features
- Female Coupler: The cam arms on the female coupler lock onto the groove of a male adapter, ensuring a secure and leak-free connection.
- Hose Shank: The hose shank end is inserted into a hose, providing a strong attachment point when secured properly.
- Materials: Available in various materials such as aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and polypropylene, to suit different application requirements and fluid compatibilities.
Applications
- Industries: Widely used in industries including agriculture, chemicals, petroleum, water treatment, and food processing.
- Function: Ideal for connecting hoses to a system where quick connect/disconnect is needed, offering flexibility and ease of use.
